Grants for Minorities

It was a hard-fought battle, and one upon which our organization never took a side upon, but thanks to legislation that made law in 1996, we’re now forced to assist minority candidates with equal diligence to those who are not minorities.

We are excited to announce that last year’s minority earmarked budget of $23,005 (out of our total operating budget of $4,801,345,000) has been increased by a huge margin! This year we will be granting at least $35,600 (out of our total operating budget of $5,901,326,400) to minority owned, operated or administered grant programs.

If you’re a minority, you finally have a reason to get excited, and we’re reluctantly delighted to be whatever small part of that joy we may be.

Under the 1996 guidelines, a minority is defined as any person with one or more of the following characteristics:

  1. Any race other than White/Caucasian or Asian/Pacific-Islander,
  2. Person with handicap sufficient to warrant disabled parking permit,
  3. Gender or sexual identity affiliation other than heterosexual, birth-bestowed or protestant,
  4. Mexicans.
  5. Women who are not directly overseen by a male counterpart, supervisor or manager.
  6. Member of a vocal religious group other than protestant or Catholic (such as Scientology, Mormonism, Islam or Buddhism), but not Jehovah’s Witness or Unitarianism, which is not actually a protestant faith.)
